THANK YOU FROM THE ASA AERO EXHAUST NORTHWEST TOUR

September 12, 2007 Ellensburg, WA  – The 2007 ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest tour season is now history. The initial season was one of hope, high expectations, hard work and dedication, great racing and some disappointments.

With the announcement of the 2007 season not being made until January of 2007, when many teams had already made plans for the year, officials were pleased with the support they received. Low car count throughout most of the season was a great concern. As the season progressed, the count came up with the championship event hosting 22 cars. With the expansion of the rules for 2008, the participation will increase.

The success of the series is due to the overall group of people that took on the challenge of making the series happen. Melinda Moullason organized the first meeting to get the ball rolling. Scott Ellsworth accepted the duties of race day coordinator, travel planner, announcer, media director and overall go to guy for the series. Jim Mikelson was race director and John Mayfield headed up the tech. Others donated a lot of time and effort to see the operation go smoothly. From registration to scoring, the series was run, not as a first year tour, but as a professional traveling unit.

Series administrator, Ron Bennett, was able to attend four of the seven events in 2007. Bennett, manager of Yakima Speedway, oversees the operation of the series, but Ellsworth, Mikelson and the other officials make the race day decisions. This is no different than a national organization leaving the race day activities to trusted officials. Bennett states, “Much has been said about the series administrator not being at all of the races. I have complete confidence in the officials and their decisions. They are very hard working and do not get the credit they deserve. My name is the one mentioned most, but Scott Ellsworth, with over 35 years of racing experience, has been the glue that holds the organization together.”

The second season looks promising, with Aero Exhaust returning as series sponsor, expanded rules and new venues. Rules are in the final stages and tracks are being contacted about the upcoming year.

Series officials want to extend a huge thank you to all who helped make this first year possible. Without the support of the racers, tracks, sponsors, officials and fans it would not have been possible. No one person made this happen. It was a collective effort on every ones part.
