ASA NORTHWEST TOUR SET TO INVADE DOUGLAS
COUNTY SPEEDWAY
July 25, 2007
Ellensburg, Washington –
On Saturday July 28, the ASA Aero Exhaust
Northwest Tour moves to Southern Oregon for race #5. The fast 3/8-mile
banked oval of Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Oregon will host the
premier drivers of the ASANWT for 150-laps. With only three races
remaining this season the points race for the first championship under the
new format of the long standing Northwest Tour is still very much up for
grabs.
After a long absence from the ASA sanctioned Douglas County Speedway the
only northwest touring division of ASA is set to bring its best drivers
back to a race facility that is highly thought of by the teams. The banked
3/8-mile oval has challenges like no other and will keep the teams on
their toes. In addition a new tire will be used for the first time. The
Hoosier race tire will keep teams searching all day for the magic set up.
The points chase for the championship has three of the Northwest’s best
drivers in a tussle for the first championship under the ASA banner.
Current point leader Jay Sauls (Puyallup, WA.) has a super slim 2-point
advantage over BJ Tidrick (Yakima, WA). Both of these young aces are
looking for a first ever Northwest Tour Championship. However lurking only
16-points back is two time tour champion Kelly Tanner (Auburn, WA).
With the regular traveling teams of the ASANWT, a contingent of Rocky
Mountain Challenge Series and North State Challenge Series teams it
promises to be a shootout on the oval.
