RIEHL WINS ASA NW TOUR ACCESS ROAD SOLUTIONS
125 AT STATELINE SPEEDWAY Fantastic weather engulfed a huge fan base there to watch the return of the Northwest Tour. The tour’s last trip to the Post Falls, Idaho race Mecca was in 1987. Riehl used the advantage of the invert to start on the pole to garner his first ASANWT win of 2007 leading all 125-laps. The second half of the race was easier than the first for Riehl. During the first half Garrett Evans (E. Wenatchee, WA), Jay Sauls (Puyallup, WA) and Kevin Richards (Newman Lake, WA) stayed on Riehl’s bumper. Evans even got along side a few times but could not get the extra oomph that he needed to make a complete pass. The first to fall off this four car train was Evans when a suspension problem forced him to the pits. Just after lap 75 of the main, Richards and Sauls started to have extreme handling problems and fell back. The large crowd equated to a substantial purse for the drivers. Stateline was one of the tracks that the tour drivers agreed to race for a percentage of the paid attendance. Everyone benefited including the fans as they were on hand for the history making event. The ASANWT returns to Stateline Stadium/Speedway on Saturday August 25, 2007 for race #7 of the 8-race season. Next up for the ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour is on
July 7 at Yakima Speedway, Yakima, Washington. The home the fast and
storied 1/2-mile, will host the premier stock car drivers for the second
time this season for 125-laps. When last there on May 26, 2007, Gary Lewis
(Bothell, WA) was the winner. 1- (1) Brandon Riehl 150 (180) $3,000.00 |
