ASA AERO EXHAUST

 

THE NEW NORTHWEST TOUR

May 1, 2007 Yakima, WA – The 22-year old Northwest Tour will start its 23rd with a new name, sanctioning body, sponsor, returning officials plus familiar and new race tracks. The traveling premier Northwest Tour’s first of eight races in 2007 is this Saturday May 5 at South Sound Speedway, Rochester, WA at 6:30 p.m.

Introducing the: 
ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour

ASA (American Speed Association) will be the new sanctioning body following a long tenure by NASCAR. ASA which began operating in 1968 will bring a new energy and generation to rejuvenate the utmost division of stock car racing in the Northwest. The Tour is where many of the local late model drivers aspire to reach.

A world leader in performance exhaust airflow technology, manufacturing and distributing, Aero Exhaust will be the Tour’s main sponsor for 2007 and beyond. In cooperation with Aero Exhaust the 2007 Northwest Tour has changed its exhaust rules lessening the sound output by these fast stock cars.

The 2007 list of officials for the NW Tour reads like a who’s who in Northwest Racing. Long time promoter, racer, etc. Ron Bennett will be the Tour’s Director. Continuing as the Race Director for the Tour is Jim Mikelson. Not new to the tour but in a new position is John Mayfield taking over as Chief Technical Inspector. Returning are Starter, Tom Wilson; Chief Scorer, Breanne Barrow; Registration, Jean Repass; Tour Advisor, Gib Repass and newcomer, Scott Ellsworth will handle the race day Administration in addition to the Announcing and Public Relations. There will be many others that will be assisting in getting a new era started.

New to the Tour’s schedule this year will be South Sound Speedway, Rochester, WA (last there in 2002); Stateline Speedway, Post Falls ID; Douglas County Speedway, Roseburg, OR (last there in 2004). Continuing their long relationship with the Tour is Yakima Speedway, Yakima, WA. For the 2nd year Meridian Speedway, Meridian, ID returns. There are eight races spread out amongst these great NW racing venues.
