NORTHWEST TOUR ADDS SOUTH SOUND SPEEDWAY FOR 2007
January 25,2007 – Northwest Tour officials announced the addition of
another facility to host an event in 2007. South Sound Speedway will
host the opening Northwest Tour event on May 5, 2007.
The popular 3/8 mile track will join Yakima Speedway and Stateline
Speedway in hosting races for the newly formed series. The Northwest
Tour Series is replacing the Elite Series in the Northwest. At the
present time, six races are scheduled and other tracks have
indicated an interest in joining the effort.
The top stockcar drivers and crews from throughout the Northwest and
Southwest will have the opportunity to once again showcase their
talents as the best around. The equipment will be the state of the
art in touring equipment. Rules for 2007 will be the same as the
Elite Series rules for 2006.
Scheduled races, in addition to the opening event, will be held at
Yakima Speedway on May 26th, June 9th at Stateline, back to Yakima
on July 6th and 7th for a 200 lap event, Stateline on August 25th
and the final at Yakima on September 1st and 2nd for the
championship 200 lapper. Race length on ¼ and 3/8 mile tracks will
be 150 laps and normal events on ½ mile and larger facilities will
be 125 laps.
The formation of the Series has been made possible by the collective
effort of racers, fans, promoters and track owners working together
for a common goal. That goal is to keep the best drivers and the
best racing alive at area tracks.
Other exciting news is in the making concerning the series for 2007
and many years beyond, and will be released in the near future.
